A free event view and a filed document or certified copy are separate things in the county system, and DeKalb County searches should ask for the right one. Superior and State Court records use different divisions and clerks in Decatur, while Magistrate, Juvenile, Probate, and municipal matters have their own access routes in DeKalb County, Georgia. Search with the strongest case or citation detail available. Confirm the result with the responsible clerk. Court rules and local notices set the online limits, and a DeKalb County court docket search reads case events, filings, settings, and outcomes within them.

DeKalb County Docket Portals

Two systems do most of the work in a DeKalb County docket search. DeKalb Odyssey offers Smart Search and Search Hearings for public case events. It needs cookies and JavaScript. The portal can time out after 60 seconds. Anyone can view event information without an account. Document images and printing require a public-access profile request. The DeKalb Clerk of Superior Court posts document viewing or purchase at $0.50 per page. The first page is sometimes free.

Traffic is different. DeKalb State Court Division B keeps its traffic and citation records on a separate Benchmark host. The search form offers radio buttons for All, Name, Case Number, Citation Number, Citation Vehicle Tag Number, and Drivers License Number. It also has date-opened and date-closed ranges, party birth year, court and case-type filters, party types, divisions, and statute or charge fields. The DeKalb State Court example, 2005 TR 000123, does not match the format of every DeKalb Superior or Division A number. No single host covers every DeKalb docket.

Both systems are indexes or event layers at heart. Neither may display a filed DeKalb pleading, a certified judgment, or a restricted case. When a dynamic form will not load, try a DeKalb courthouse Public Access Terminal, the DeKalb clerk's counter, or a phone call. Do not read a blank screen as a blank record.

DeKalb County's public court map appears on the official DeKalb judicial-system page. The map separates the DeKalb main courthouse from the county's other court locations. It also lays out the distinct roles of DeKalb Superior, State, Magistrate, Juvenile, and Probate courts.

DeKalb County court docket court hierarchy and courthouse map

Why does the map matter? "DeKalb courthouse" can mean more than one counter. A traffic or Magistrate matter may point a visitor to Camp Circle, while a DeKalb Probate record follows an appointment route at the Judicial Tower.

What a DeKalb County Court Docket Shows

No single docket schema covers DeKalb County. A live DeKalb Odyssey event view, a State B Benchmark result, a DeKalb Superior arraignment calendar, and a city-court payment page each show a different slice of a case. Match the court, case number, event date, and record layer before concluding anything. Keep in mind that a DeKalb docket entry proves a filing or setting exists. It does not open the document attached to it.

Case identityCourt, case number, case type, and division. Division B traffic may use a pattern such as 2005 TR 000123.

DocumentsA document image, certified copy, eCertified record, or archive file may require an account, fee, request, or clerk visit.

The DeKalb Superior Court home ties things together. It links the DeKalb divisions, DeKalb Odyssey, Rule 22 materials, and a DeKalb Daily Docket. DeKalb Superior history also explains why older records carry earlier circuit labels, and why a modern search can end up needing a DeKalb archive request.

DeKalb County Docket Custodians

Custody in DeKalb County splits by court class. Debra E. DeBerry, Clerk of Superior Court, holds DeKalb Superior civil, domestic and family, felony criminal, real-estate, and archive records. DeAndre C. Moore, Clerk of Courts for DeKalb State and Magistrate Courts, keeps DeKalb State civil, misdemeanor criminal, Division B traffic, and DeKalb Magistrate filings. DeKalb Juvenile and DeKalb Probate each run separate record offices. The municipal courts keep their own city records.

Which DeKalb County Courts Keep Dockets

Jurisdiction is the fastest filter for choosing a DeKalb docket. DeKalb Superior Court serves as the general-jurisdiction state trial court for felony, divorce, family, title, and major civil matters. DeKalb State Court is the county's limited trial court, covering State civil and misdemeanors, with DUI and serious traffic in Division A and traffic citations in Division B. DeKalb Magistrate, Juvenile, Probate, and the city municipal courts fill narrower roles.

Finding DeKalb County Court Dates and Settings

A DeKalb date can hide in many places. It shows up on a citation, a summons, or a court notice. A DeKalb Odyssey event may carry it. So may a Benchmark entry, the State Court calendar, the Superior-linked Daily Docket, or a city calendar. Those sources do not refresh together. The State Court calendar itself warns that listings can change or leave proceedings out. When sources disagree, the legal notice and the latest DeKalb court event control. Compare date, time, courtroom, judge, and setting type.

For a full date check, work in order. Read the DeKalb notice first. Then search the correct portal and check the court-specific calendar. Call the clerk if anything conflicts. The complete search sequence and reset details live in the DeKalb County court calendar page.

The DeKalb Superior-linked Infax Daily Docket is a same-day courtroom view, not the whole register of actions. Six columns do the work: Party Name, Case Number, Floor, Courtroom, Hearing Time, and Judge. A row can find your floor. Still, it is not a case history. Nor does it replace a filed order. The Clerk of Superior Court's public-access workflow connects that online event view to PAT scanners, document requests, and certified copies. Authentication still runs through the clerk.

DeKalb Infax Docket Columns

DeKalb Infax invites overreading. It squeezes a daily docket into six practical fields. A full DeKalb case record can hold filings, orders, motions, related cases, and disposition information. Use the daily table to orient a courthouse visit. For the layer that actually answers your question, open the case event or contact the DeKalb clerk.

D-number
A Superior criminal identifier that can appear before an indictment or accusation and judge assignment.
Setting
A scheduled court event, such as arraignment, pretrial, motion, trial, or compliance review.
Reset
A moved setting. It is not the same as dismissal, and the new date should be confirmed.
PAT
A courthouse Public Access Terminal that can support public access and scanning in the clerk workflow.
Disposition
A closing or outcome event. Verify the meaning and date with the responsible clerk.

Public Access to DeKalb County Court Dockets

Georgia starts from a broad public-access baseline. Access can still shrink. A sealing order, a statute, privacy protection, juvenile confidentiality, or a redaction rule can each limit it. And a public docket event is not always a public document image. The Georgia Open Records Act helps with county administrative records and existing data, but it cannot force a clerk to build a new case report or bypass a judicial restriction. Send copy requests to the clerk holding the case.

Key Rules:

Georgia Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 sets a public-record baseline while allowing lawful limits.

Rule 21.6 identifier protections support redaction or restricted handling of sensitive information.

O.C.G.A. ยงยง50-18-70-75 governs written open-records requests, response timing, costs, and exemptions.

Juvenile records play by different rules. Delinquency, dependency, CHINS, and juvenile traffic materials each carry separate access limits. The DeKalb Juvenile Court home page presents the court to the public. It offers no ordinary case-database route. A blank public search there proves nothing about whether a matter exists.

DeKalb County court docket Juvenile Court access limits

Probate follows its own records path. Ask the responsible clerk what may be inspected, whether an appointment is required, and which copy route applies. A county administrative request cannot undo a court seal.

Restricted DeKalb County Court Records

Keep four access layers separate. A public event, a document image, a sealed or restricted file, and a criminal-history repository record are different things. A GBI restriction does not automatically seal a Superior or State Court file. A juvenile result may be blocked by confidentiality. Family materials can hold sensitive details even when an event is publicly listed. Treat a blank result as a signal. It usually means the search needs a court, clerk, or access review.

Public viewing has limits too. Rule 22 governs electronic devices and recording in Superior courtrooms, while courtroom signage or a judge's direction controls the immediate setting. Guard the sensitive fields. Full birth dates, Social Security numbers, account numbers, and private party details all deserve protection when you describe a docket.

The DeKalb County Clerk and Docket Records

DeKalb splits its clerk duties. The Clerk of Superior Court and the State/Magistrate Clerk of Courts are separate offices. Pricing differs too. The Superior clerk's criminal page lists plain copies at $1 per page, with certified copies at $2.50 for the first page plus $0.50 for each additional page. Odyssey, PAT, archives, and eCertification are separate routes. State Court Division B traffic is its own world. It runs its own search and docket platform, so a State B question may belong at the Camp Circle counter rather than the Superior Clerk.

DeKalb County Docket Technology

DeKalb's digital shift kept the courthouse in the loop. Civil and family e-filing is mandatory in the ordinary workflow. Even so, the Superior Clerk provides PAT scanners and lists exceptions such as adoptions, bond validations, ex parte motions, foreign judgments, open adoption, surrogacy, TPO, and TPR.

eFileGA is one lane. Benchmark e-filing serves State Division B, and an Odyssey event search is separate again. Older civil records can move the opposite way. The Archives page routes closed older matters to warehouse retrieval, a request form, payment, and a self-addressed stamped envelope.

The 2026 Superior materials list dated AI filing orders. Juvenile's current e-file notice says its system is down. Technology instructions move fast, so check the date; a current court order or notice controls.

The Clerk of Superior Court's public access page works as a practical bridge between an online docket search and a counter visit.

DeKalb County court docket Clerk of Superior Court public access

A PAT can open public access and scanning. A screen view is not a certified record. When the copy will be filed or presented somewhere else, ask the clerk for the proper copy type.

DeKalb County Docket History

The county began under the Flint Circuit in 1822. A split came in 1853. The Stone Mountain Circuit arrived in 1885. Since 1983, DeKalb has been the only county in the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. Because of that long past, older case labels and archive practices may not match the names on a current portal.

Paper files gave way to e-filing, PAT scanning, eCertification, and online event views. That shift changed access, not the clerk's role. A portal is a fine first stop. For old, sealed, or document-level questions, though, the clerk's archive, counter, or phone line still answers best. The Superior Court history page traces the county through each of these eras.

History is context, not a substitute for a current case search. When you ask for a record, use the present court and clerk names.

DeKalb County Docket Capacity

The 2025 Georgia judicial workload assessment puts DeKalb at 10 Superior judges. It estimates 1,534 cases per judge. The workload need is 13.5 judges, for a ratio of 1.35. Three-year averages run to 4,358 criminal defendants. They also count 2,339 general-civil cases and 8,617 domestic cases. These are workload inputs, not a live count of open cases. They say nothing about a single docket.

10Superior judges listed in the workload assessment
4,358three-year criminal-defendant average reported
10,956general-civil plus domestic three-year average

Workload strain slows updates. That strain helps explain why court calendars, event indexes, and clerk records can move on different schedules. The Magistrate Court home shows a separate civil, criminal, and ordinance structure. So pick the court first. Then confirm any date or disposition with the latest official event or the responsible clerk.

DeKalb County court docket Magistrate Court search and calendar services

Magistrate Court's civil, criminal, and ordinance paths are one more reason to pick the court before searching.

Specialty courts add program context, and Superior Court describes Drug Court and Mental Health Court. State Court lists a DUI Court at Camp Circle. The Probate Court home shows separate records and appointments. Juvenile Court lists family and youth programs. These public descriptions do not create a participant search database or reveal private treatment details.

DeKalb County court docket Probate Court records and services

Probate runs its own records and appointment process. An appointment page is not a docket search. Estate and guardianship questions belong at Probate's records office.

Federal Dockets Near DeKalb

A DeKalb case can still be federal. The Northern District of Georgia Atlanta Division sits in the Richard B. Russell Federal Building and Courthouse. It is not the DeKalb County Courthouse. PACER charges $0.10 per page for most case documents and search results. PACER's pricing page states a $3 cap for most documents. It also notes a quarterly waiver at $30 or less. Free public terminals at the federal courthouse offer another route.

First, read the case number and court. Do they say federal, state, municipal, or bankruptcy? Odyssey does not replace PACER. A county Open Records request will not produce a federal docket copy either. State appeals go to the Georgia Court of Appeals or Supreme Court. Federal appeals reach the Eleventh Circuit.

Municipal courts hold city traffic, ordinance, code, and limited misdemeanor dockets. The 2020 Census comparison ranks five places largest: Atlanta, Stonecrest, Brookhaven, Dunwoody, and Tucker.
